2026-03-12: Cocopedia.com is now using a new caching system that should make things faster. Please let me know if you encounter any new issues.

2026-03-15: MediaWiki has been reinstalled and the old database and files restored. It was pretty clogged up from being upgraded so many times since 2004. I am also testing out Cloudflare to see if it can prevent the 'bot assaults that took the site down last year.

News stories for Episode 287, November 5, 2022

====================================

(October 29-November 4)

NOTE 1: Since the NitrOS9 30th Anniversary 2nd Decade special interview with Boisy was live recorded at a non-standard time and went around 2 hours, Steve has decided to make it it's own standalone episode (#286). So today's episode will now be #287, and the two hour interview episode is already up on YouTube.

NOTE 2: Live from Brazil - Retro SC show with Erico & Luciano at the top of the show

Coco 1/2/3 (and multi-platform)

1) Voidstar Tech posted a video showing him connecting two 8 bit computers (a PET and a Coco 3) via WiModems to connect to each other via wireless LAN:

 https://youtu.be/PH7YtoxOdrI

7) Our very own Ken of Canadian Retro Things did a follow up video exploring "is it worth installing a 6309 in a Coco 1/2?". This time he concentrates on the power draw and heat from the 6809 vs. 6309 CPU, and the fact that running the 6309 version of NitrOS9 and BASIC09 allows existing programs to speed up without one having to change a single line of BASIC09 code (which he shows using a Mandelbrot set graphics drawing program. It still takes a long time, but noticeably less):
